Did you know?
- According to official Belarusian government statistics there are 35,000 orphans in the country, though the actual numbers are probably much larger.
- It is rare for children to be adopted in Belarus; the majority are raised by the state.
- By the time they exit their orphanages at age 17, most teens have already had run ins with the law, a large majority never integrate into society, often ending up either in prison, prostitution, homeless or an abusive relationship.
It is our mission to be an agent of hope and healing to these abandoned children.
A Touch of Love for the Little Ones
What We Do
Imagine babies and children isolated and alone in a hospital room all day. These traumatized children do not receive adequate care and are starving for love and acceptance.
We partner with hospitals where abandoned and orphaned children are sent. Hospitals are not only for children who are sick, but also serve as a place where young children (ages 1-3) rejected by their parents, found abandoned, or taken from home are sent. The children spend anywhere from 1-3 months in the hospital, before being placed in an institution or sent back home.
Reach Initiative is committed to providing these children with the love and care they need. RII supports 3 full time staff that visit with them in the hospital daily, serving approximately 20 abandoned children each week. During these visits, much needed attention and interactions are provided such as reading, drawing, playing games, teaching them to walk, and praying with them. RII also provides them with clothing, bedding, diapers, juice, toys, and other necessities. Every child receives prayer. The love and hugs these children receive is making a huge difference in their lives!
How You Can Help
PRAY for these little ones who are starving for love and hurting.
GIVE Your gift of $50/month will help provide for our staff that loves on these abandoned children day after day.. A gift of $160 will provide diapers for one month. Any gift amount helps!
Destinations Discovered Teen Mentoring Program
What We Do
Statistically, when teenagers leave the orphanage at about 17 years of age the majority of them end up trapped in a lifestyle of criminal activity, including drug abuse and prostitution. RII is working to help them change their future… even if we can’t reach all of them, we can make a difference in one life at a time.
Our mentoring program is designed to give orphaned teens an enhanced opportunity to successfully make it in life when they are released from their orphanage. This project pairs an orphan with a mentor who will prepare them for life outside the orphanage by teaching them basic life skills, preparing them for their career choice, and providing ongoing counsel and support once they leave the orphanage. Moreover, all of our mentors are strong believers who impart God’s love and Biblical moral standards while serving as a role model. By God’s grace and together with your help and prayers we can and will change the statistics!
How You Can Help
PRAY for these young ones who are going through so much suffering and the teens who will soon leave the orphanage and enter a hostile world; that they would know the love of their Abba (father) in heaven. Pray also that those who are or age to be adopted will be adopted into loving homes.
GIVE For your gift of $40 we can provide a teen with a mentor from our congregation, plus life skills and career training to help them live a godly productive life when they leave the orphanage. Your commitment of $40 per month will enable us to expand this ministry, giving more teen orphans a real chance at life.
